Printing the Tariff Pages

Distribution-Publications, Inc. (DPI) uses a software system for FMC tariffs that produces printed tariff pages in formats which are more detailed and more accurate the traditional tariff page format. In order to comply with FMC's Automated Tariff Filing Information (ATFI) Regulations, every rate filing must include its effective date, expiry date (if any), origin/destination, and all applicable surcharges. What is more important, every rate has a unique tariff line item number called a TLI number. All FMC regulation of tariffs is based on TLI numbers and tariff rule numbers.

Prior to adoption of FMC's ATFI system, DPI published FMC filed tariffs in the traditional page format; these pages included multiple rate columns, and multiple rate sections. While these traditional page formats convey a lot information on each page, they can not accurately reflect ATFI tariff filings. For this reason, DPI adopted a new tariff format. Our new tariff page format shows TLI numbers and Commodity Item Numbers very clearly. Additionally, when a TLI is not subject to a surcharge or rule, this is automatically printed in an EXCEPTION note on the page. The result is a more accurate tariff page document. DPI also produces a variety of tariff report formats.
